Injuries to you or a loved one are difficult. When death occurs, as a result of injury, the impact is devastating to loved ones both emotionally and financially. Insurance companies can be, and often are, intimidating. They are often misleading. Often, injured people or family of injured relatives are given inaccurate representations of what they are entitled to under Montana law and pressured into making hasty decisions. When confronted with this situation, the focus should be on healing. Our firm is well versed in Montana law. We handle the paperwork and the insurance companies which allows our clients to focus on healing. At Kortum Law Office, P.L.L.C., we offer competent, caring and friendly staff. Initial consultations are free of charge.  We also offer convenient appointments, including evenings and weekends, and appointments at your location if injury or grief prevents you from traveling.

Santana Caballero

Born and raised in the working town of Anaconda, Montana, Santana attended the University of Montana and earned a B.A. in History with a minor in Political Science. She studied abroad in Italy, moved to Los Angeles, volunteered at Northridge earthquake sites and worked for the social security administration before attending the University of Montana School of Law. During law school, Santana worked for various law offices, volunteered and focused on effective communication through her mediation clinical. Santana has mediated tribal issues, property damage and injury disputes.

Santana brings to the table a strong Montana work ethic and common sense while maintaining result orientated relationships with insurance carriers and opposing counsel. She is a strong believer in giving back and donates considerable time, contributions and energy to community fundraisers. Santana also contributes pro bono work to adopting families.

The bulk of Santana’s caseload involves successfully representing injured clients and families who have lost a loved one due to the negligence of others. While the majority of Santana’s practice involves handling insurance disputes, car accident cases, medical malpractice and wrongful death claims, she has been a strong leader and proponent of protecting Montana citizens. As a proponent of consumer rights, she successfully represented Montanans in class actions against insurance companies and successfully challenged credit card mandatory arbitration clauses before the Montana Supreme Court. While representing clients in employment discrimination cases, she successfully petitioned the E.E.O.C. to bring action on behalf of a wrongfully discharged employee after the E.E.O.C. had been absent from Montana cases for considerable time.

Santana is admitted to practice in Montana Administrative matters, Montana City Courts, Montana Justice Courts, Montana District Courts, Montana Federal District Courts and the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Santana is married to Grammy winning artist, Randy Caballero and has three adopted children. When she is not in court or at the office, she spends the bulk of her free time with her husband and daughter, volunteering, running, traveling, visiting her son at college and attending her daughter’s basketball games.
